Skin Care Products from Food-Based Ingredients

November 20, 2009

Although organic products are safer than other brands, there is still some concern.  Within minutes, 60% of what you put on your baby’s skin is absorbed into the body.  So you want to be absolutely sure that whatever you use on their skin is safe and non-toxic.  Here are a couple food-based skin care products:

  • Olive oil and sunflower oil which will soften the skin and acts as an antioxidant protecting the body from free radicals.  Apply directly to the skin or use as a bath oil.
  • Sweet almond oil and coconut oil are also great moisturizers.  They are used as a base ingredient for many soaps and lotions.  Sweet almond oil in specific moisturizes the skin, soothes sunburns and heals dry itchy skin.
  • Avocado oil is found in many baby hair products and has been proven to provide more sun protection than other food-based ingredients.
