Organic Baby Products
Parents are becoming more aware today of the harm that chemicals can do to their children’s skin. This is one of the main reasons why so many are now choosing to buy organic baby clothes instead of going for the much cheaper alternatives.
Yet although these clothes can help to protect a child’s skin they are also much better for those who live in many developing countries where cotton farming takes place. On average 20,000 people in developing countries die each year from poisoning caused by chemicals and most of them work in cotton farming. So choosing to buy organic clothes not only will protect your child, but others and also is beneficial to the planet as a whole.
The problem with children and why you should seriously think about buying organic clothes is that their skin is far more porous than yours. In fact, their skin can far more easily and readily absorb chemicals that are on their clothes and you will not even know that this is happening.
Whereas organic clothing is made using cotton that is completely natural and has not been touched by any chemicals whatsoever. But although they do actually cost more to purchase they do have other benefits over more conventional types of baby clothing. One such one is that they actually last much longer and the feel more comfortable to wear.
All organic cotton used in organic baby clothes is grown using systems, which are biologically based rather than depending on chemicals to help it grow. In order to remove any pests from the soil then either predator insects or organic pesticides are used to do so. Plus when ready for the harvesting the cotton is picked by hand rather than through use of a machine.
It is important when buying any kind of organic clothing for your baby or child you read the labels or descriptions carefully. The label or description should clearly state that only 100% certified organic cotton has been used to make the clothing in question. Plus only natural dyes and inks should have been used in order to color them. At no stage during the manufacturing process should any chemicals including bleaches have come into contact with it.
As we mentioned earlier in this article, organic cotton is a lot softer than other types of cotton that have been grown and produced using chemicals. This then reduces the chances of a child’s skin that is very sensitive anyway from being further irritated. So the chances of them suffering from any kind of skin allergies or complaints such as eczema are greatly reduced as well.
