Given that it is the cold/flu season I thought it would be helpful to provide some all natural ways to prevent getting sick. On a daily basis we are exposed to germs and viruses that we most likely bring back into our home. It is practically unavoidable. All the more reason to take every precaution necessary to prevent you and your family from catching it. After the jump are some suggestions to help prevent you and your family from getting sick.
Some suggestions for prevention:
- Wash or sanitize your hands frequently. This is one of the most common ways to catch an illness. We touch so many things throughout the day and don’t even realize how many germs are picked up in such a short period of time. One all natural hand sanitizer that has been getting some great reviews is called CleanWell.
- Don’t Touch Your Face. Since the cold and flu viruses enter our system through the eyes, nose and mouth it is highly recommended that you don’t touch your face. Make a conscious effort to wash or sanitize your hands before touching your face. Often times it is an unconscious action, but knowing this will make it that much easier to prevent.
- Boost your immune system. Eating healthy is extremely important in preventing illness. Which includes eating the recommended 3-5 servings of fruits and vegetables. For children you may need to be creative with the presentation. A personal favorite of mine is the old ants on a log recipe. Simple, quick and more importantly kids love it. Take a piece of celery, fill it with a little bit of peanut butter and sprinkle some raisins on top.
- Plenty of fresh air. It is important to make sure you are getting a little bit of fresh air every day. Especially during the cold weather seasons as most people tend to stay inside. Which means more germs are circulating through the air.
