Everyone wants to keep a clean house, but the chemicals in most household cleaners is not safe for your family. The organic cleaning products are a great alternative but they can be a bit pricey. Especially in a bad economy people are trying to save every penny. So here are a few suggestions for all natural cleaning products you can make at home:
- Baking soda can be used as a scrubbing agent on porcelin or stainless steel. You can also sprinkle a light layer on your carpet before vacuuming to help deodorize. Lynoa Cattanach, author of Teach Yourself Green Parenting (Teach Yourself), recommends mixing baking soda, soap shavings and hot water to mop the floor. Followed by a rinse of water and/or vinegar to give it a little shine.
- Vinegar can clean toilets, glass and kitchen appliances. The recommended ratio for most cleaning purposes is one part vinegar and four parts water. However, it recommended that you DO NOT use it on marble because it will streak and stain.
- Lemon juice is perfect for cleaning the microwave. Also, as recommended by Fassa, you can mix 1/4 cup lemon juice with a 1/2 cup of olive oil to polish wood furniture.
