Given the financial crisis that has swept the nation families are cutting back and reducing spending wherever possible. One effective and healthy way to save money is to make more meals at home. Cooking for your baby is just as easy as cooking for yourself (if not easier). If you did a price comparison you might find that organic fruits and vegetables are considerably less than the jarred varieties. Studies have shown that organic fruits/vegetables contain more nutrients than non-organic produce and your baby will need all the nutrients they can get. Another plus is knowing what goes into making the food. Most of the supplies needed are typical household items that most families already own such as a blender, ice cube trays and baggies. Once you have washed your produce you will need to boil, bake or steam them to soften and prepare for pureeing. Remember that since you are pureeing yourself you can adjust the texture and solidity of the food. Any leftovers can be poured into the ice cube trays and frozen for the next meal.
