Organic baby food is very rapidly becoming the preferred choice of modern parents because of its extremely high food values and reliable nutritional content. In these critical early stages of development organic baby food provides a simple, effective way of monitoring food content and keeping the weird chemicals out of the equation. Organic baby food, like organic kids clothes, is the safe bet.
The concept of organic baby food is based on three principles:
- The development of baby’s ability to digest food
- The need for accurate knowledge of all parts of baby’s diet, which is ridiculously overcomplicated by additives
- The basic need for very high quality food for baby’s growth
You’d think that it was obvious that a young child’s ability to digest food, which really does take a while to develop, would be a factor in baby food manufacturing, but a whole slurry of chemicals, from the unnecessary colorings to the dubious preservatives, continues to be put into baby food.
These additives are basically obsolete technology. Modern food storage and preparation have advanced quite a lot since 1950, and the main contribution of the additives is to increase production costs, not food values. The digestive value of most of these additives is zero, with beta carotene coloring and salt the only exceptions, being natural dietary elements.
Most additives are quite harmless, but it’s impossible to tell when baby has digestion problems if they’ve created some sort of situation or not. There are some real problems in this area, because sensitive children can react to a whole range of issues, and the more chemicals involved, the harder it is to pin down the source of the problems.
Another, less common, but terrifying, issue is food allergies. These are real worries, and having a situation where a range of chemicals, as well as the food, are possible sources makes things a lot more difficult. Finding the source of the allergic reaction can be quite hard enough, without these added issues.
Organic baby food is well defined nutrition by definition. Everything from the cellulose factor in the carrots to the B vitamins in the bananas is known in advance. That also makes diet planning a lot easier, and creating a balanced diet is very simple.
Manufactured food, on the other hand, invariably includes results of food processing. Water is used to manufacture foods, and this can leach trace elements from the food. (Soups are much better, because they retain the food values and provide water. With solids, it’s a different ball game.) Too much salt can be the wrong thing at the wrong time, for a digestive system which is basically learning to eat. Salt promotes the creation of hydrochloric acid, and regulates water distribution, but it’s also prone to causing some upsets for a stomach that doesn’t want upsets, particularly if there’s a lack of fluid.
The biggest advantage of organic baby food is that it promotes growth by providing high value food at this rapid growth stage. There’s no “bulk”, just food. Like the first sets of boys play suits and girls clothes, the diet has to fit the child’s needs.
